Barred Owlets

Barred Owlets | |
By now I'm sure everyone knows about the Barred Owls nesting in Ridley Creek State Park along the bridle trail. We had discovered the nest in an old beech tree with a large cavity. Today I was at the bridle trail in search of Yellow-billed Cuckoos when I heard a strange noise coming from the side of the trail. After a little searching I was able to locate two owlets cuddled together calling for momma to feed them. I never saw either of the adult birds but it was a treat to find these guys. We now know that the nest was able to produce at least two fledglings.
